Flat Roof Repairs
A flat roof can sometimes present real issues with leaks causing problems for many people. Although flat roofs are often problematic their upkeep and repair doesn't have to be expensive and as always, prevention is cheaper than the cure. At Skipton Builders we repair flat roofs and prevent any further leaks.
With new techniques it is easier and more cost effective to repair flat roofs than ever before. At Skipton Builders we use a fibreglass technique to repair flat roofs and make them waterproof for many years to come. The fibreglass compound is applied to the roof in a liquid form and has to be done in temperature exceeding 5 degrees to enable the compound to properly set. The fibreglass dires to leave an extremely water resistant barrier that will last at least 20 years. In comparison to older methods the application of the fibreglass is much cheaper and an average flat roof can be fully repaired and protected for as little as £400. If the roof has already had substantial damage and you have seen water come into your house then the repair works are likely to be more substantial. If the damp has come through into the house there is a good chance the roof timbers will be wet and may need repairing or replacing if they are really degraded. The plaster will also need to be replaced in many cases or at the very least dried out and then painted over. The sooner you treat a repair the less costly it usually is and obviously prevention is cheaper than the cure so if you have an old flat roof, addressing it before it leaks through to the inside is always the cheapest option.
